| -- -- >>> NEW >>> WELCOME TO 2008! - 2007 was big, 2008 will be bigger! [JANUARY.10.08] Right off the top I'd like to thank everyone I've dealt with this past year. It was a pleasure working with everyone, and I look forward to continuing on in 2008. Our New Years Eve event Back To The Future 5 which featurned Signum, Bryan Jones, Marcus Visionary, B.Traits, SOS, Kristoff, and Phosphor, was a great success. I would like to thank Ron (1/2 of Signum DJs) as well as Bryan, Bri, Marcus, Len, Kris and Dan for making the trip to our cold city which on this day, was pleasently... not so cold, David Brady and Rob Woo at Spin Inc., Sarah at Viva, Jamie at JnB, and our sponsors Liquid Ice, Battlefield Equipment, Mothers Music, UMFM, and Bar Italia, as well as out ticket vendors DeLaga & The Urban Bakery Also a huge thank you to all who came out to Back 2 the Future 5, particularly those who rocked out to the Earthbase 1 set. Upcoming gigs in 2008 so far include a headlining appearance at Elevate @ Pharoah's January 18th as well as a set at Seduction on February 15th, which will also feature Marco V, Nuclear Ramjet and Ill-esha. In addition, I've got a new clubnight at Desire Nightclub in the works, for which I'll be one of the resident DJs. Stay tuned for more info to be released in the coming weeks - opening night will be January 25th! Cheers! Khemlab NYE 2007/08 - BACK 2 THE FUTURE 5 FT. SIGNUM, BRYAN JONES & MORE! EXCLUSIVE GUEST MIX on RED RIVER MELODIES @ PARTY107.COM!! [DECEMBER.02.07] First off I would like to send a big thank you to Justin Dubslaw in Kingston, Ontario for inviting me to do an exclusive guest mix on his radio show. It aired tonight and if you missed it, or would like to listen again it is now available in the Mixes section. It was very much a pleasure to have a mix aired at party107.com . From what I understand it received a very good response. So a thank you, to all of you who tuned in. Still on the topic of Guest Mix Appearences, I recently had a Mix aired on TopWebRadio.com out of Brazil, and I would like to thank Allison for that! Cheers!! As well it looks as though 'METRO' might be getting aired there once every month which would be awesome! I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date on that one! Some big news as well regarding New Years Eve in Winnipeg this year; Signum, Bryan Jones, B.Traits, Marcus Visionary, S.O.S., Kristoff, and Phaxis & Rayne (live) will all be joining us in what is to be the biggest New Years Eve Dance Music event this city has seen! Cheers! Khemlab KITCHENER & MONTREAL FANTASTIC!!! GUEST @ AMPLIFIEDRADIO.COM :) [SEPTEMBER.20.07] This last week was definately an interesting one; from getting lost in Chicago and getting a speeding ticket by a jerk New York State Trooper, to getting to see James Holden and Jessie Rose at the Drake Hotel in Toronto (Which I think hosted the TIFF Afterparty for 'Death Defying Acts' Featuring Catherine Zeta Jones). I don't know if she was there through, I was too busy being in the "underground" watching Jessie Rose play, who I've never heard of before, but definately rocked my socks with a bunch of choice selections! Playing in Kitchener and Montreal was a blast and I'd like to thank Barry in Kitchener and Pierre in Montreal for having me down for some great times! The drive home from Montreal was probably the worst hightlight of the trip; 28hr drive from Montreal to Winnipeg only to go straight to work that same day only a couple hours after arriving back. Advice for everyone, don't drive when you're lacking sleep, you might end up in the ditch. Not that I did, but I came close once. I figured that might be a good time to pull over to have a snooze! However, if you ever get the opportunity to drive through the upper eastern usa, take it. Its absolutely beautiful! In other news, A mix set I made will be featured on more then 20 stations world wide as a part of Amplified Radio's Weekly Show. Check It Out!! Cheers! Khemlab MORE SEPTEMBER TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED! & UPDATED TRACKLISTINGS [AUGUST.08.07] More dates confirmed! I’ve now confirmed a headlining appearance at Underground Resistance 2 in Montreal, Canada on September 15th, which I’m definitely pumped for. Also, for those in Winnipeg I’ll be performing at this week’s Temple of Sound, August 11th. Should be more updates coming soon as the September tour gets finalized…..keep checking in for more info! Cheers! Khemlab UPCOMING DATES & SEPTEMBER TOUR INFO! [AUGUST.02.07] So the tour is coming together, I’m booked in Kitchener, ON at the Purple Room @ Revolution Nightclub on September 14th, and still firming up additional dates around the Eastern US and Canada during that timeframe. Also looking forward to my gig at for o2 @ The Empire after we return on September 21st. Always a good time with Suz, Oxide and the o2 crew. In the meantime, don’t forget to tune in to my weekly show on www.puredj.com, “Metro” each Thursday. Check the website for weekly set times. And of course, it is a new month, so votes on www.thedjlist.com are appreciated! Summer is winding down, so plans for Halloween shows and of course, the next installment of Back 2 The Future are in the works – look out for more news coming soon! Cheers! KL UPDATED BIO, CHART, NEW MIX AVAILABLE & AUG/SEPT TOUR INFO! [JUNE.05.07] So I finally got around to updating a few things on the website. With some acheivements over the past while that weren't included in the old Bio I figured it was time to fix up a newer up-to-date one that spoke more of me now. The Chart section got an update this month, as well, a new(er) mix that is a live recording of my radio show "METRO" on puredj.com broadcast on May 3rd, 2007 is now availabe in the mixes section. Check it out and let me know what you think! Yup, Tour talk. Looking to book some dates for August/September of this year. I'm looking to make my way through the North Eastern USA, Ontario and Quebec. If you're reading this and you live in this area and you know some promoters in your area you feel might be missing out, let them know! Well, thats about it for this update. Talk to you all soon! Cheers! KL UPCOMING GIG - DJ DAN! [MAY.17.07] Greetings all! It's been a while since I've written something here. I figured I would let everyone know that tomorrow night (May 18th, 2007), Pharaoh's Nightclub is going to be the place to be. DJ Dan is in town and I'm playing on the night. Come early drink late, its gonna be a blast! :D Hope to See you all there! Cheers! KL TRAVELING FUN, NEW BI-MONTHLY RESIDENCEY & UPDATED TOP 10 IN THE BAG! [MAR.01.07] Since our road trip to Thunder Bay I have been working a lot and haven't had time to update the site, so here's a piece from our road trip to Thunder Bay were my best friend Denny (dj dizz) and I were booked to play. February 9th was a good day (Temp: -36c). We; my wife Kendra, Denny, his wife Pam, our best friend Calvin and I, all hopped in a rather large full sized suv, that was surprisingly good on gas and headed for Kenora, Ontario where we would stay the night before heading to Thunder Bay in the morning. We pull into Kenora at about Midnight and we are stopped at a red light right beside this pub called the "Whistling Monkey" which is right on the main drag there. Outside there are a bunch of girls having a smoke. They finish their smoking and all but one return back inside. This one girl stays outside and looks as if she's going to rub her stomach or something, but instead proceeded to undo her belt, unzip her pants and pull her pants down, giving us a strip show from the side of the street. And she did this with a completely straight face. BRILLIANT! Except for one thing... (Temp: -27c) We get settled in our hotel and eventually get some sleep. Morning rolls around, and we're given a "continental breakfast". Now, I don't stay in hotels much, but you would think that because a "continent" is a pretty big place, a "continental breakfast" must also be a pretty big thing. WRONG. For those of you that don't know, a "continental breakfast" includes: A small cup of juice that you can swig back in one shot, a bagel (if you eat bagels) or a rice crispy square or whatever they may have standing in for those 2 things, and a bit of fruit. Needless to say, I was pretty cheesed when I found this out. Here I am waking up, showering and preparing for this good meal just to find what I might consider to be a "snack". We packed up our things and off we headed out for Thunder Bay. We get to Dryden (Temp: -19c) and we need to fill up for the first time. Now, like I said this truck is good on gas. It's at this point that that I realize this truck has a REALLY large tank. We were sitting about 1/2 a tank when we hit Dryden $86 later the tank is full again, and we're on our way again. On our way to Thundery Bay we decided to have a look at the falls at Kakabeka Falls to which I say, if you're ever traveling that stretch of road, stop and have a look. It's very beautiful and well worth the stop! (Temp: -14c). We finally reached Thunder Bay at about 4pm and the temperature was -7c. You see, on the rearview mirror, there is a temperature display that continued to drop 4 degrees for every 100KM we drove. Long road trips need some entertainment, and this appeared to be part of that. When you've lived in Winnipeg during -36c weather, then you would understand how this can be entertaining. Anyhow, we played at a clubnight/party in Thunder Bay that night for about 200 ppl and secured a bi-monthly residency there. This means more road trip fun! Our next gig there is to be April 14th, and I can't wait to get back on the road soon. This would have happened in May as I was booked to play my first show in Montreal in May for Montreal Trance Legion @ Rise 2, but for reasons beyond my control the booking was cancelled. I was however advised I would be brought in at a later time in the year. So I'm glad I will still be making a trip far east sometime this year. In other news, the top 10 section has been updated again with the latest of my top 10 selections and as always a sample of my #1 selection. See you all next time! Khemlab SUPRISE GIG @ MARCO V /// WEBSITE DESIGNER STILL NEEDED!! [JAN.28.07] Well, that was interesting! I must say that last night was an absolute blast. Marco V was brilliant in his 3hr set that he played here last night. Opening with the latest smash "Positive Education", he took the crowd to a new level. I said to my best friend (Dj Dizz), "This is why we use concert fencing!". Kids were pressed right to the fence with their hands in the air. If that fence wasn't there, I'm sure they would have mauled Marco and tried to take a piece home as a souvenir. But, djs need their space to perform at that goddly level. As we weren't throwing this event and only contracted to do the sound and lights for it, I must say it looked pretty good. Unfortunately, I was not booked to play this event. Winnipeg has such amazing talent, its a really large pool and everyone needs their turn. However, the one of the locals that was lucky enough to play this event decided he didn't or could no longer play at this event. He had the closing slot and the promoter asked me how quickly I could get my records... See now, by chance I had my stuff there, so I walked away, grabbed it, came back, looked at him and said... "done!". A good laugh was had by all and sure enough I was closing out the Marco V show! Good times all around! KL UDATED: GIGS, RADIO & IN THE BAG!! /// WEBSITE DESIGNER STILL NEEDED!! [JAN.23.07] So far, So So! 2007 Has sadly started with the closing of Ritual Fridays @ The Warehouse which was becoming a huge part of the dance culture here in Winnipeg. Thankfully though, the organizer informed me that there is a new space to be used and Ritual Fridays will be back very soon! My "Gigs" section has been updated with the latest of bookings, the "In The Bag" section updated with the latest Top 10 tracks in my bag, and the "Radio" section has been updated with the latest tracklisting from my radio show "Metro" on puredj.com. Well, I still haven't been able to find a new Website Designer, so thats still in the workings I suppose. I'm hoping to have something fresh for everyone soon, but we'll have to wait and see I guess. Remember, if you have ANY suggestions for this site please contact me at info @ djkhemlab.com . Well, Untill next time! Cheers! KL HERE'S TO A GOOD NEW YEAR!! /// WEBSITE DESIGNER WANTED!! [JAN.10.07] First off, I would like to thank everyone who came out to Back To The Future this year! It was a blast! Thank you Ronnie for being a upstanding guy and a great dj! You were a pleasure to work with and I hope to work with you in some capacity again sometime!! Secondly... To all the people who came out in support at every event that I played at this past year, thank you kindly. Your support does not go unnoticed. I try each year to push my boundries and further myself as a performing artist. This past year saw me play infront of Judge Jules and follow Ronski Speed. Both of which I'm pleased to say were right up there with some of the best sets I played in 2006. Ritual Fridays was spot on each and every night! Respect goes to Richard (Dubbz) and Crew for their night there. There will be many memorable nights to come. So, what will 2007 Bring? I have finally worked out a schedule with my dayjob. Only took one freakin year! But I finally have some regular days off in which I can begin to focus soley on production work that I can be proud of and actually put finishing touches on. There's nothing worse then just not having the time in a day to get the finishing touches on work you continually have to put off because your dayjob consumes you. In 2007, It will be tried, and It will be done! Expect some good stuff this year as far as productions go! Not to mention still waiting to see if my track under "Norman J" will be picked up as one of the winners in the PureSubstance remix contest. We'll see what happens there. New things you can expect in 2007 as far as my website goes. I am officially putting the word out there for designers that want to submit work for the possibility of designing a new site for myself this year! There is no deadline, however, the sooner the better! If you are interested, please submit an email to info at djkhemlab.com . New mixes can be expected more frequently this coming year with the extra free time I will have. As well, like previously mentioned my Radio Show on PUREDJ.COM Kicks off officially this Thursday and Next Thursday! Air Time is 15:15 GMT-6:00 . Tune in at www.puredj.com ! More info to come on everything else as the days go by! Again to everyone! CHEERS for an awesome 2006!!! GOOD NEWS and BAD NEWS!!! [12.13.06] First the good news!!... In a new feature I've decided to add to the website, under Radio, there will be a listing for my weekly radio show playlist. NEW YEARS EVE is coming soon and it's good to know my promotion crew "Crown Productions" ( www.myspace.com/crownpro ) Was able to secure RONSKI SPEED from Germany for the show. This is going to be one hell of a show, and I'm pleased and greatfull to be following up after Ronski plays! As a lot of you may know by my bio, my birthday has recently passed; December 8th. I played a show at the local afterhours club where I have a residency there, which was TONS of fun I must say I was quite pleased with the crowd reaction and the interation I was able to have with the crowd. The night Featured F/64, Disco Kitty, LSDave, the last 2 also having celebrated their birthdays that weekend, myself and my fellow dj and best friend DJ Dizz... not celebrating his bday that weekend. Anyhow, normally, having a night in which the style of music is quite hard wouldnt' work out too well but on this night the crowd was RIGHT UP FOR IT!! It was nice to see everyone with a smile on their face enjoying the night as I did!. NOW, for the bad news... My Mixer, Allen & Heath XONE92 is in need of repairs. Quite some time ago, and I made a post about it on here, some dumb partykid decided it would be good times to see if my mixer could glow in the dark, much like her glowstick did. Well, my mixer got the worst of it, and lost some paint. There was also this broad who thought it would be fun to lean over my mixer to grab the dj that was playing to get his attention. And then there was a rye & coke on the mixer. If any of you know what coke can do to electronics, you know where I'm going with this. I'm now having serious problems with the rca's in the back of the mixer as thats were the coke landed. I'm getting very bad line hum and its pissing me off!. I'm gonna set out to fix it myself, see if I can't clean it up a bit. If I can fix it, great, if I can't... I wont be doing a radio show for a couple weeks! Well thats about it for this week. If you're in the Winnipeg Area be sure to stop down at the Warehouse on December 22nd. I will be vs'ing another local dj there that night. It will be loads of fun as all nights are there!! Also, my radio show for this Thursday has been moved to Friday as my damn dayjob was not able to accomidate my needing a thursday off. Showtime will be 3:15pm to 4:45pm CST (GMT-06:00) See ya soon! KL A New Day, Another Morning after! (Gigs, Charts, Production & Radio Section updated!) [11.15.06] It never ceases to amaze me how fast the days can go by when you are a home owner. Family, Work, Eat, Sleep, write some music... day in day out. So busy. BUT, I found time to update the news section and let you know a little about whats going on. December is going to be a busy month for myself. I locked down a bi-monthly residency at a local club night here in winnipeg "Ritual Fridays @ The Warehouse". I will be appearing there at least 1 time time every 2 months. The Club Night has really picked up and the support that is shown for this night is really second to none. The crowd is very receptive and always seems to be up for a good bashing. December will see me playing 4 times this month if things go as hoped. After a short hiatus from Online Radio, January will see the beginning of my new online show on PureDJ.com called "METRO". This will feature myself as well as a guest dj every month. I have some other things planned for this show to try to keep it somewhat exciting so stay tuned and we'll hear what we here. Updated Sections this update include: Charts, Gigs, & Productions. Cheers! KL SOOOO HOT! (NEW MIX!!!!! Also, Chart Update! & Gigs Update!) [07.27.06] Well, Its been a while since the last update so I figure everyone may be due for one. It's been so hot here, and I have had no motivation to sit in a sweaty chair in a sweaty basement! I decided, sleeping infront of a fan was probably a more wise choice! :) The gig in the upper eastern U.S. Doesn't look like its going to happen, which sucks! I was looking forward to heading out to Boston!. As I mentioned last time I was working on finishing a track well, I came close. I backtracked a bit on the effort, and worked on finishing the track. If I were to sit there and re-think it, I'd never finish it. I took it to a mates house and worked on some eq'ing, and things are sounding good. I'm set to hand it out to a couple people and see how the crowds react. Once I start handing that out, I will be working on finalizing my other track thats right near completion! So, things may be progressing slower then hoped, but you can still expect something in finished form soon! I will leave this update as is for now, so I can have something to post about in a couple weeks :) Take care everyone! Party Hard, but Be Smart, and Party Safe!!! Cheers! KL Re-Opening of D.I.G. [05.12.06] Greetings! The Grand Re-Opening of one of Winnipeg's legandary, longest and most successful club nights happened last night. The space being used, aptly named "The Warehouse" is a beautiful room with tons of potential to build on over the next while. Next week I will have the pleasure of gracing the decks there. If any of you reading this are in the Winnipeg area, come out! It's gonna be a good night. With the club open untill 4am, there's even plenty time to satisfy your friends needs, and yours! The night will feature a fellow Winnipeg dj by the name of Crono! Well, April was great, May... not so much. It has been cool, wet, and although some work around the yard has been completed there's not much more to show for that then a clean lawn and a stuffy nose due to summer allergies! It's a pain but, whatever. So on the down time, I have been working on some tracks, I just need to actually get around to completing them. I'm at that stage where, I don't have enough time at the moment to sit down and complete something in full, only in stages. It's good to come back to it and perfect it a little more later on with some new ideas you feel could go well in the track, however, it's usually brought on during a different train of thought. This is the part that annoys me. SO, FINALLY, with some days off the day job this coming May Long weekend, I'm gonna make time to finish one or two of them. Hopefully in the coming month or so, I'll have an international date to tell you about, but I'm still waiting on the promoter to solidfy some plans. Keep an ear to the ground! If you're throwing an event in July, somewhere in the upper east U.S. drop me a line, maybe something can be arranged during the same trip. Anyhow!, That't it for me right now! Untill We Meet Again! Cheers! KL Judge Jules @ The Empire Cabaret [04.01.06] First off... JUDGE FUCKING JULES kicked ass! Quite active behind the decks, and with the odd robotic movements here and there he seemed to enjoy his set as much as anyone on the dancefloor did. A pleasure to see play, I hope to see him in action again in the future! My set on the night was fantastic. Often you'll get locals that pound out there hardest sets with no care to who is playing after them. One thing a lot of djs need to realize is that when you open for a headliner, you open for a headliner. You gotta set the crowd on the right foot! "Here's the Cross!!!" When Jules was set to go on, the crowd was well warmed up and ready to be pouneded for the next hour and a half! "GOOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!" Now, On about the site! Just about everything has been updated this month! The Photos section has been updated fully from 2003-2004. All of 2005 and whats been taken this year will be up to date by tomorrow (April 2nd) with a bunch of pics of the Jules night. Yes! There's more! The Gigs section has been updated, The "In The Bag" section has been updated, and the guestbook section will arrive very shortly! WOAH! LOTS TO TALK ABOUT! [03.12.06] As mentioned, there would be a bit of a hiatus. Well, I'm back now! Infact, I'm sitting here writting this as I'm listening to the hard pounding techno music of DJ Rayne, a good friend and fellow local act that too knows how to rip our city a new arse, before that was Patrick DSP and all I can really say to that is... "Ouch!, My legs are in pain!!". The event here this eve is called "Neverland". Although I am not playing this show, I am however part of the crew that did the sound and lights that will most definatley be discussed about after this is all over. I am proud to say we truely believe in the lighting that we do, as we feel its some of the best this city sees from time to time (the lonely prairie city known as Winnipeg). I would also like to say that I am REALLY looking forward to building this studio of mine so I can start pumping out tracks left and right. I feel that now more then ever, one must not just mix, but also create music to be an international artist. With the world being filled with really good acts, there must be something that sets them apart. Playing music is one thing. Creating it is another ball of wax. And this task I look forward to enjoying and embracing. In other news, (I know lots of info this time... see what happens when you put things off for a bit!) I'm gonna be doing a new radio show on www.pure.fm (no not puredj.com; I still do puredj.com) Funny how the guy who asked me to do this has ALMOST the same radio show name. So please Don't go getting that confused! :) My show on puredj.com will be likely moving to another day, I will update that info very soon so keep posted! As for the New Pure.fm show, It will be airing fridays @ 9pm CST. Well, untill next time! Cheers and many beers! KL WELCOME TO 2006! SOME INFO... AND MORE? [01.31.06] HEY!! Its 2006!!! ... First off I would like to thank you all for your support in 2005! I hope your New Years went well! Now, Some of you may be asking, "what the heck!? why no updates to the site??" Here's the story, during the new years eve show I was throwing, some kid decided it was a bright idea to make my Allen & Heath Xone:92 mixer glow a bit more by biting open a glowstick and spitting some on it. Needless to say I wasn't impressed when I found this out. Things got worse. The finish on the mixer is now gone where the goo sat. Time passed, and I took appart the mixer. Everything seems to be A-OK. I just need to order a new faceplate and all should be well again. NOW!! Moving on, my set was recorded that night by one of the techs. It was fantastic!! I'm just still trying to get a hold of him so I can pass it on to you guys! As soon as I get it... expect it! And finally!... I'm buying a home, so if things are slow getting updated (as they most always are.. darn that busy schedule) I do appologize! I'll get back up on pace soon!! And once we get this home and move in, let the building projects begin!!!! repeat after me... HOME... STUDIO?! Cheers guys and gals! I hope to see you out there this 2006!!! LOVE!
