New Releases, New Releases!!
Jan 16, 2012
Hey fans!
Been a while since my last post, but in a minute you'll see why!
I posted last time about how good things were happening right? Turns out they are fantastic!
My latest EP London Town was released just 5 days ago on January 11th. In this short period of time it has broken just about every bar set by previuos tracks of mine. Beatport is a tough nut to crack but London Town topped at #79 on the Beatport Top100 House Releases and it wasn't just at Beatport. Over at Satellite Records it hit #26 on the Top 100 Deep House Hot Picks and just today hit #90 on the Top 100 Hot Picks covering all Genres! It's done some other things as well; With my first release on the label 7StarsMusic, Joe Silva's remix of London Town has reached #7 on the labels Beatport Top10 tracks!
I owe a lot of the success of this release to the fine work of Joe Silva from Winnipeg, a top producer involved in the well known project "Tonepushers" with partner Ali Khan and the other remixer on the project FiguDs. The promotion from Saga Bloom, the 7 Stars Music label boss, was fantastic and probably wouldn't be where it is without it.
Here's a list of some of the upcoming releases that will come out over the next couple months starting with my No Error EP which was just released today, exclusively on Beatport!
- JAN-16-2012 -
John Norman - No Error EP ("No Error", & "Boiling Point") [4Play Trax]
- JAN-26-2012 -

- FEB-15-2012 -

- MAR-08-2012

Exciting times!!
Nov 28, 2011
Hey guys!
WOW! So many good things are happening right now for me!
I recently sat down and took some time for an interview with a dear friend of mine Alyson Shane who's been doing some freelance writting for a online music site called SquarePegCity.com and a direct link to the interview can be found here.
Also, back at the beginning of November I mentioned that I had 3 tracks scheduled to be released soon. Well, the pace picked up a bit here and I will now be having a bunch of new material being released between late this year and sometime early next year. Here are some details...
First off I'm extremely excited to announce my first track on 7StarsMusic out of Amsterdam will be released by Christmas time this year! The track is called "London Town". I chose the title as I felt it was fitting as it is the first track I wrote after arriving to my current home of London, England. On the remix for this release is a good friend and fellow Winnipeg producer Joe Silva who has been making solid music for as long as I can remember. Also on the remix for that one is FiguDs whom has recently had Richie Hawtin take note of his productions and put them in his rotation. Not bad company I say.
Second, my first EP will be released on none other that the label that released my first track; Canadian Label 4PlayTrax. This will feature the EP title track "No Error" and a track called "Boiling Point", both are originals.
Third, I have two remixes for OneWay. There is no set date on these releases yet, but I will make another announcement once I have firm dates. I would imagine though that one could expect them to be released between the end of Deccember and February of next year.
Finally, last but not least, I have another remix project that I just completed for Joe Silva, but again, no set date for release.
So as you can see, it's been a pretty crazy time here in the Lab. Pumping out new tunes, left and right. I can only hope that some gigs follow all this work. I would sure love to take London by the balls and show them a good time! Just so you know, once all these tracks are official released, you will be able to find them listed on my site with a link to my Beatport page, or you can just link it now and bookmark it here: John Norman's Beatport Page.
Well that's it for now fans! Be Well!

OLGS 024 NOW AVAILABLE on iTunes!
July 31, 2011
Hello friends!
So I got the mix up on time this month but as I've been so extremely busy this month I forgot to make a post here letting you all know it was ready. As a result some of you may have noticed that the Podcast in iTunes has not downloaded the latest mix. Well that's because I failed at updating the xml file to the right folder on my main site for it to link to. This has now been corrected and you'll notice June's mix (OLGS024) is now available on iTunes!

OLGS 023 NOW AVAILABLE!
June 8, 2011
Hello friends!
Sorry about this mix being a bit late! I had it scheduled to release last friday, ready in time for the weekend but someone had other plans for me in the way of a broken Collarbone.
How did this happen? Well, I'm not sure how many of you people out there know, but I'm pretty big into Soccer (as such for the sake of North American's who might confuse "Football" with "NFL/CFL") and I play in a Mens' league here in my home town. For those that also follow soccer, my position is at left midfield. I was however put out on the right mid for a portion of this game. Coincidently my only portion of this game. I hadn't played on the right side all season so was delighted and thought... great! I'll be able to make some runs and put some crosses into the box off my strong foot (right). Well, I was able to make a good run, but it was during one of these runs that my injury occured.
The other team was in possession and had made a good run at goal but our central defenders were able to close down their attack and turn over the ball. Winning the ball they moved the ball effectively up the centre of the field. It was at centre that one of our strikers who's very strong on the ball took possession and was keeping their central defensive midfielder away from the ball. Expecting to win the ball back quickly, their left back who was part of that inital run at us stayed really high up, about 10 yards from centre in our end. This opened up a lot of space on the right side for me to make a run, so I made that run in support and called for the ball. Our striker backhealed it to me and I took off running. With their left back caught high up out of position their center left defender was forced make a quick run out to the right. I saw him coming in so I advanced the ball five yards in front in front of me. I had good pace on him and was sure to beat him but just as I advanced the ball that five yards in front of me he came in with a late slidetackle and left me no choice but to either a) have my feet taken out or b) hurdle him. I chose option b). I hurdled the guy. He was to tall a defender and as I hurdled him my right knee clipped the back of his head. With the pace I had (I advanced it enough to sprint onto it) this twisted me around and I landed flat on my left shoulder. As I hit the ground I heard a crack, just like when you snap your fingers or crack your knuckles, I knew I was done in for.
So for those of you that do follow soccer, I'm sure you can invision this and see what a brutal tackle this was. Amazingly, for a tackle that sidelined me 4-6wks, there was no red card, not even a yellow!
The pain is just now starting to subside ever so slightly and my shoulder is a gross shade of yellow, looks almost like johndice. Anyhow, let me just say though that a backscratcher has become my closest companion, second only to my Wife who's been amazingly patient with me during this time!
So now... what you really came here for... a little about the mix. Finished under a great deal of pain this mix seems to have a bit harder of a feel to it in the middle parts featuring the likes of Shlomi Aber, Chris Leibing, Paco Osuna, Joseph Capriatti and Nicole Moudaber. This is all mixed with the beatiful sounds from Spektre, Sharam Jey, Martin Eyerer and Federico Locchi. So take your time, sit back and enjoy this Mid-week injection of music across your chosen mediums!

OLGS 022 NOW AVAILABLE!
May 7, 2011
Good day my friends!!!
Sunday morning brings you nice tasty things to listen to. Click the download link above and start downloading the latest OLGS monthly mix!
As I'm sure you can tell by now, I like to open my monthly mix with a little something to play with the brain. An acapella, a nice instrumental, something stripped down and bare or a cool vocal sample. Well this month is no different, and it starts of with the lovely voice of Roisin Murphy of then Moloko with an acapella of "Sing it Back". Beautifully sculpted and intertwined with the track following it (Pig & Dan - Hooked), this mix is filled with tracks by the likes of Sasha Carassi, Oliver Klein & Kolombo, Mark Knight, Filthy Rich, Pipi, Alex Kenji, John Acquaviva, Shlomi Aber and more!
Sit back, kick your feet up, or get them down and moving. Whatever your choice for this mix... ENJOY IT!

What Happened?! Is Everything Cool??...
Feb 11, 2011
Alright... What Happened?!
Hey everyone!
My apologies to my fans that frequent my page and those who listen to my syndicated shows online. I'm sure you have noticed there has been no update recently and no release of OLGS 20 (In January). Well this is not without good reason. I have been extremely busy working on a couple new tracks I'll be sending to some labels for a listen, but also, and more importantly, rehabbing my hand. Let me explain in more detail.
My Wife, Daughter and I decided to take a family trip down to Lutsen, Minnisota (Beautiful place!) to go skiing for the New Year. Getting there was treacherous, having to drive in zero visibility at some points on the way there and having to stop on many occasions. The real meat of the story here is that whilst I was skiing on Jan.1st, making my way down one of the runs there was a pole indicating a "area of caution". Now, this pole that indicated this "area of caution" is the same pole they use for marking "Boundary Area's" (by putting a sign overtop/attached to this pole). So seeing this pole marking an "area of caution" you are given two options; Go left or right around the pole. Well this pole was right at a clearing of trees through which a 3rd option was available to head straight for the chairlift. Now I had to choose a) go left around this pole and continue down that particular run, b) go right around this pole and continue down that same run or, c) go further right and head through the clearing toward the chairlift.
Well, I chose option a) and decided to go left and continue down that particular run. BAD DECISION!! Little did I know that the hill either failed to put the "Boundary Area" sign on the pole or someone knocked it down and didn't pick it up or notify staff. So heading toward the left side of that run, I realized that the run didn't look like it had been groomed all season and needed to make a rather FAST right turn toward the clearing. Too Late. As I was carving right there was just not enough space and I ended up sliding right into a rift of snow about a foot high right where the pole was. My left ski hit that rift, my body turned facing that direction, my right ski turned into the drift. both my skiis blew off and I pretty much face planted in the snow at about 25kmph. I didn't have enough time to toss my ski poles and as such landed with my hand open over one of my poles. It ripped my thumb back toward my wrist and I felt immediate pain! I knew right away something was wrong. I was pretty sure that I sprained it really badly. I made my way to the Ski Patrol office and had them assess it. I had it wrapped, not splinted as I wanted to continue skiing that day. We continued on the day and made our way back home the following day! 10hr drive home one what was the equivalent of a skating rink was not easy with the pain I was in, considering I was driving standard and my injured left thumb is the steering hand.
The morning after arriving home I went into our sports injury clinic and had an X-ray taken. Result. No Sprain rather, a broken thumb. I had tore my inner Ulnar Collateral Ligament on my thumb (Look up Skier's Thumb) which took a piece of bone off at the same time. I was sent to hospital emergency to have a more thorough assessment done. Result of that... Surgery. If you are easily faint, don't click this link, otherwise... check it out. This is not MY surgery by it is exactly the surgery I had.
Now after 5wks of wearing 3 different types of casts, I am in physiotherapy and can expect a full recovery from this injury in another 6wks
So what's going to happen with OLGS 20?? Well, I'm happy to inform that you can expect there will be a OLGS 20. It will be released at the end of February here and on iTunes, and will be aired at the regular times at the regular places!
Thank you all for understanding and being patient! Good things come to those who wait! :)
All the best,
JN
